Now Medium would make it look like they don't owe us and if we want we can leave. This is cheating. The time and effort most of us gave was not to ultimately get cents as rewards.

They are making it look like we have invested in a stock that failed us. But here we gave time too. We could have done something else. Maybe we wouldn't have invested that much time and money. For us time is equal to money too. They should know and respect that. If the company shuts down that's fine but if we are flagged as a spammer and paid in cents that's not fair.
