These are the type of conversations I like to have on Medium. I hope Medium staff are talking about these too.

Many users may not just know that their behavior while using Medium is considered spam by the algorithm. Yes, there are some that do these intentionally. But with so many accounts being banned and revoked, if this still continues there are high chances that there are people who just don't know. Either prevent them from committing these mistakes or educate them in a way that they can understand.

A temporary suspension telling them what they have done wrong can also help reduce these spammy engagements. Maybe don't activate the clap button unless a reader reads at least half the article or give them feedback through a pop-up warning them of what may happen if they continue to clap without reading.

So many ideas can be generated. Ultimately if these are applied it will help us too.
